The San Diego Tourism Authority’s communications team is made up of public relations and media-relations experts who share a passion for travel, food, arts and entertainment, and promoting our beautiful destination. The team is responsible for Earned media as a key part of the SDTA Marketing Department’s Paid, Earned and Owned structure.
What do they do?
The team works to position San Diego as a premier travel destination for both leisure and business-travel visitors from around the globe. They accomplish this by sharing San Diego’s story with domestic and international media outlets, travel journalists and other outlets, as well as by hosting media members and attending tourism conferences and events. They also support our corporate voice for the local tourism industry, amplifying tourism’s significant economic impact to the region.
How can they help?
San Diego’s story is linked to its restaurants, hotels, attractions, and arts and culture institutions. The more our communications team knows about our members’ latest news, the more they can share and pitch it to national and international media. We encourage members to share press releases, updates and openings with our communications experts. As they expand their PR efforts, the more information and updates they can share with their contacts in Canada, Mexico, the U.K., Germany , Japan, China and Australia, the better.
The communications team also reaches out to SDTA members when hosting media and influencers, in order to allow them to experience all that San Diego and our members have to offer.
