Visitor Services Recap – March 2011

The following events took place last month at ConVis Visitor Services Centers:

  • National Public Employees Labor Relations Association, (NPELRA), held their Annual Training Conference at the Catamaran Resort Hotel, March 20-24.  Visitor Services provided San Diego brochures and a Welcome to SD speaker
  • SDSU’s Hospitality & Tourism Management program hosted the 13th Annual High School Hospitality Conference on board the USS Midway, March 11; Visitor Services staffed an information table with 350 attendees
  • Volunteers and staff of the International Visitor Information Center (IVIC), La Jolla Visitor Center (LJVC) and the California Welcome Center, Alpine (CWCA) attended the following site inspections and FAM tours, designed to increase San Diego product knowledge and resulting in more effective referrals to our SDCVB members:
    • Kona Kai Resort hosted a tour and Volunteer Awards reception for 65 attendees, March 28
    • Hampton Inn Airport, San Diego Airport and SeaWorld hosted a tour, meeting space and breakfast for 30 attendees, March 30
    • Old Town Trolley Tours hosted a SEAL Tour for 40 attendees, March 10
    • Bed & Breakfast Inn at La Jolla hosted a tour and breakfast for 6 attendees, March 23; 10 more will tour on April 12
    • Lucky D’s Hostel hosted a tour and dinner for 18 attendees, March 13 and 15
    • Cosmopolitan Hotel hosted a tour and open house for the Visitor Services staff, March 24, for 19 attendees
    • CCDC’s Sheila R. Hardin Downtown Information Center hosted lunch and meeting space for the San Diego Regional Visitor Center Network meeting, March 14; nine attendees were treated to a behind the scenes tour and were among the first to walk across the new Harbor Drive Pedestrian bridge
