The Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians recently unveiled $36 million plan to build a 150-room hotel, adjacent to their existing casino in Alpine, which will include a pool, fitness room, business center and related facilities. Construction is slated to begin first quarter of 2012, due to complete by first quarter of 2013. With the Rancho Bernardo office of Swinerton Inc. serving as general contractor, this initiative is expected to provide 400 to 450 construction jobs for subcontractors. With plans to utilize a design-build approach, San Diego’s JCJ Architects is set to advise on the most cost effective designs and construction techniques.
