Senior Vice President and Regional Manager, West Region, Cox Communications

Sam Attisha

As senior vice president and region manager of the West Region for Cox Communications, Sam Attisha oversees operations across Cox’s West Region, including Arizona, California, Idaho and Nevada.    

Prior to his current role, Attisha held various local, state and national leadership roles across the company in operations, business development, and public affairs, including serving as senior vice president and region manager for California for six years and national roles in operations.

He served as vice president of business development and public affairs for Cox’s California region, leading government, community, and public relations efforts, as well as Cox Charities and the company’s philanthropic giving in California. In 2012, he led the launch of Cox’s Connect2Compete broadband adoption program in San Diego to help bridge the digital divide. Connect2Compete became a national model and was launched companywide in 2013.

Attisha serves on the management council for the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. He’s on the board of directors for Calbroadband (a telecommunications association) and board of directors’ audit chair for Monarch School that educates San Diego’s homeless K-12 students.

In 2020, Attisha was an honoree of the San Diego Business Journal’s CEO of the Year awards. He also received the South County Economic Development Council’s 2020 Golden Dedication/Marilyn Lassman Lifetime Achievement award, which honors leaders who have made a positive community impact in South San Diego County. In 2022, Attisha was honored with a Visionary Award by the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce as LEAD Graduate of the Year for his leadership and efforts in the region. In 2023, he was named to the San Diego Business Journal’s “San Diego 500 Most Influential People in San Diego” list for the sixth year.

Attisha emigrated from Iraq when he was three years old and grew up in El Cajon, Calif. in San Diego County. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of San Diego, and an MBA from California State University, Sacramento.

Sam and his wife, Shereen, have three sons.
