Information on Coronavirus for San Diego Tourism Authority Customers, Clients and Members

February 28, 2020 By Candice Eley Leave a Comment

Information updated as of March 20, 2020

  • The San Diego Tourism Authority has been closely monitoring the evolving situation around coronavirus and its impacts to travel. We are working closely with partners at the U.S. Travel Association, Brand USA and Visit California, as well as local and national government officials and health organizations, to provide the most accurate, up-to-date information to travelers.
  • The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 changes daily. For the most current status of cases in San Diego County, please see the County of San Diego Health and Human Services website here.
  • The CDC recommends that for the next 8 weeks, organizers cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more throughout the U.S.
  • SDTA team members are currently working remotely.
  • We have paused several of our paid media campaigns. We will be closely monitoring and evaluating our marketing efforts to make the most responsible choices for the health, safety and economic benefit of our region.
  • Our members will be provided with weekly business condition updates via our “Executive Report” email every Friday. Please contact the SDTA to be added to our email update list.
  • The SDTA is asking all hotels and non-hotel businesses serving the group market please keep us updated on definite group business that has cancelled due to coronavirus concerns. Please use this survey to share your business updates with us.
  • The State of California has implemented a shelter in place order, and all non-essential businesses are currently closed. Grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations and other essential businesses remain open. Restaurants are operating for delivery or takeout only.
  • The US-Mexico border is currently closed to non-essential travel.
  • All updates related to coronavirus as it impacts travel to the San Diego region will be shared with visitors, clients, meeting planners and others via our website and social media pages:
