San Diego hotel performance slumped in the first week of 2019 after the bump felt during the Christmas holiday. Occupancy rates ranged from about 45% on the I-15 Corridor, to nearly 66% in Mission Bay. All regions saw significant losses in occupancy compared to the same week in 2018, most notably in Downtown, down -15%, and Mission Valley, down -16% for the week. Average daily rates ranged from $91 in Escondido to $226 in La Jolla, with only a handful of regions gaining over 2018. Pt. Loma/Airport properties were able to achieve an almost 9% increase for the week, followed by La Jolla with a 7% increase.
