SDTA 101: Meet the Digital Marketing Team

July 19, 2022 By Julia Buescher Leave a Comment

Digital Marketing

The San Diego Tourism Authority is a sales and marketing organization whose main objective is to promote and market San Diego as a preferred vacation and meetings destination. The Digital Marketing team educates and inspires travelers and meeting planners through SDTA’s owned digital channels by crafting and sharing compelling stories of San Diego, highlighting SDTA members and amplifying brand messaging.

What do they do?

The DM team manages SDTA’s owned channels for both B2C and B2B audiences by ensuring email marketing, social media and website content align with brand pillars, marketing campaigns and research-based travel motivators.  The DM team works to inspire travel to San Diego via engagement on SDTA’s owned channels: email marketing, social media and the sandiego.org website and associated blogs. The team ensures all content align with brand pillars, marketing campaigns and research-based travel motivators, customized for both leisure travelers and the meetings and conventions market.

Additionally, the DM team supports Marketing Partnerships’ member advertising program and event promotion, and supports executive communications across their digital channels.

Actively owned channels include:

  • SanDiego.org
  • Leisure and Corporate blogs
  • Instagram
  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn
  • Leisure and Corporate Twitter accounts
  • Pinterest
  • TikTok
  • Email marketing: Leisure, SDTA membership, and convention & group sales email marketing programs

How can they help?

Partner events, photos, horizontal and vertical video, and business and meeting updates are critical to the DM team’s marketing efforts and are shared on a consistent basis. Members can submit events and offers through MemberNet and send photos, video and business updates through their account reps. The DM team will reference these materials when planning content to ensure SDTA’s active owned channels share the best, happiest, most welcoming, fun and engaging experiences in San Diego.
