Feeding San Diego partnered with the SDTA to host a webinar on Feb. 9, 2022, titled “Feed People, Not Landfills: How to Get Ahead With Food Donations and Senate Bill 1383 Compliance.”
There’s a new law in California you need to know about: SB 1383, California’s new organic waste and surplus food recovery legislation.
Starting in 2024, restaurants, hotels, event venues and health facilities will be required to donate excess food to a food recovery organization. Feeding San Diego can be your solution to SB 1383 compliance, so that you can avoid fines, provide food to San Diegans facing hunger and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Feeding San Diego is the county’s leading hunger relief and food rescue organization and has a team of food rescue experts who can help you figure out your food recovery strategy.

Our restaurant Quarterdeck Restaurant at the Bay Club Hotel & Marina is interested in learning how we can set this up and what is required. We also need to get compliant with food composting for City Of San Diego requirement of discarded food if you handle that or partner with any agency for that.
