- The week of Thanksgiving saw San Diego hotel demand soften from the week prior, to sell a total of 275,993 room nights throughout the county. Even so, room demand was on par with the same week in 2019, aided in part by a Special Edition of Comic-Con over the holiday weekend.
- San Diego County occupancy averaged 62.1%, ranking the county seventh among top markets and third in the western competitive set behind Orange County (68.2%) and Los Angeles (67.0%). New York, Orange County, and Miami were the top three destinations for the week.
- Daily rates averaged $176, an increase of $13 from the week prior and $42 higher than 2019. San Diego’s ADR ranked sixth in the nation and third in the competitive set, below Orange County ($190) and Los Angeles ($179).
- RevPAR was $109, roughly the same as it has been for several weeks (with the week of Nov 7-13 being an outlier at $127). San Diego’s RevPAR ranked sixth in the nation this week.
- Group occupancy among upscale properties declined considerably during the holiday week, from 24% the week prior to 8% this week. Transient occupancy, however, rose to 45%, up from 37% the previous week. The same dynamic also played out in Group and Transient ADR, this week at $195 and $279, respectively.
- Average rates remain high in the coastal regions, as temperatures continue to beat historic norms for this time of year. La Jolla averaged $310 for the week, followed by Mission Bay at $232 and Del Mar/Oceanside at $221.
