- During the third week of 2021, San Diego County sold 11,000 more room nights than the week prior to total 152,700 room nights sold.
- Sunday sold the least amount of room nights throughout the county with 18,590 sold, while Monday through Wednesday were flat at around 20,600 rooms sold each night. By Friday and Saturday, demand ticked up significantly selling 23,300 and 27,300 room nights, respectively.
- The uptick in weekend demand was driven significantly by coastal regions, as the weather was uncharacteristically warm for January and it was a 3-day weekend with MLK Day on Monday, January 18th. Demand among inland regions remained relatively flat through the week.
- County occupancy was 34.9% for the week, ranking San Diego 16th among top markets and 4th in the western competitive set (behind Phoenix 50.6%, Los Angeles 41.9%, and Seattle 38.8%).
- The regions with the highest occupancy continue to be South/East County at 62.7%, Northeast/Escondido at 52.6%, and Mission Valley at 41.6%.
- County ADR was $98 for the week, ranking San Diego 10th among top markets and 5th in the western comp set (behind Los Angeles $110, San Francisco $105, Phoenix $101, and Anaheim $101).
- Top performing regions in ADR continue with La Jolla at $164, Mission Bay at $130, and Downtown at $115.
- RevPAR was $34, ranking San Diego 10th among top markets and 4th in the western comp set (behind Phoenix $51, Los Angeles $46, and Anaheim $35).
