San Diego hotels in the month of October averaged 74.0 percent occupancy, a -6.0 percent contraction compared to 2018, while the average daily rate (ADR) was $159.07, a -3.8 percent reduction from last year. San Diego occupancy for the month ranked 14th among top 25 markets, while ADR ranked 11th.
- Sunday night occupancy was flat compared to last October, while the rest of the weeknights fell, most notably Thursday nights with a -13 percent decline. This coincides with the drop in Group travel for the month seen across the top 25 markets. Group occupancy rates in San Diego declined by -15 percent, while Transient occupancy rates among upscale/upper upscale chains remained relatively flat with a 0.6 percent gain.
- The luxury hotel category was the only hotel segment to see a rise in occupancy with a 2.1 percent boost, while Independent hotels grew ADR for the month, up 1.5 percent.
- CYTD, San Diego occupancy is down -2.2 percent while ADR is up by 1.0 percent.
