In the first week of May, San Diego hotels contracted in occupancy rates compared to last year, while average daily rates climbed higher. In the eighteenth week of 2019, occupancy rates ranged from 67.4 percent in Del Mar/Oceanside to 86.5 percent in UTC. Most regions fell in occupancy compared to last year, but those that did see growth include UTC, which improved 9.3 percent, followed by La Jolla with 7.8 percent growth. Average daily rates ranged from $119 in Escondido to $254 in La Jolla. All region experienced growth in ADR this week with properties Downtown growing the most at 12.4 percent, followed by La Jolla with 10.8 percent growth.
