San Diego’s Newest Downtown Hotel Project set to Break Ground

September 9, 2016 By Nick Leave a Comment

cartehotelsandiegoCarté Hotel & Suites San Diego, the newest high rise hotel in downtown San Diego, will officially break ground today, Friday, September 9. Latitude 33 Planning & Engineering, in association with Pierpoint Management, LLC and Tucker Sadler Architects Inc., is overseeing site engineering efforts on the project, located at 401 W. Ash St.

“The incredible team of professionals we have working together on this project is absolutely second to none,” said Latitude 33 Principal Matt Semic. “When it’s complete, this hotel will provide a world class hospitality experience and some of the area’s most stunning views of San Diego’s beautiful waterfront.”

The 14-story hotel, located in downtown San Diego’s Little Italy neighborhood, will include 240 upscale guest rooms and suites along with a restaurant, wine shop, full-service upscale athletic club, outdoor pool with spa and meeting space. The 151,248-square-foot project includes about 3,900 square feet of street-level retail space and 127 parking spaces on two levels of subterranean parking. The hotel is set to feature a 2,000-square-foot plaza that fronts Ash St. and include 24-hour valet parking.

Carté Hotel & Suites San Diego will have LEED Silver Certification upon completion. Construction is anticipated to take 18 months and the first hotel guests can expect to check-in starting in June 2018.

“This unique upscale hotel located in Little Italy is designed to exceed customer expectations and we feel very proud to have played our role in making it one of the best hotel experiences in town,” said Clay Ost, senior project engineer for Latitude 33. “Downtown San Diego is definitely the place to be right now. Carté Hotel & Suites San Diego is just blocks from the Embarcadero, Waterfront Park and new San Diego Central Courthouse. Plus, being near the County Center/Little Italy trolley stop will provide easy access to San Diego’s famed Gaslamp Quarter and burgeoning East Village.”

Previous Latitude 33 hospitality projects in the Southern California region include the Fairmont Grand Del Mar and Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego, the Four Seasons Resort Aviara in Carlsbad, Calif., and Temecula Creek Inn in Temecula, Calif.
