Beautiful beaches, a fantastic climate, plenty to see and do (and eat)—and a four-star hotel room for less than $200 a night. That combination of attractions and affordability landed San Diego the top spot in MONEY’s inaugural Best in Travel Awards. Getting there won’t break the bank either: Airfares are down 2.5% year over year. And with 263 days of sunshine on the calendar, you’re pretty much guaranteed great weather whenever you go. We asked some of the locals what they like best about their town; here’s what they had to say.
