The SDTA is proud to say that our inaugural Tourism Accelerator program — the first of its kind in the country — has proved a resounding success.
And earlier in December, we were honored to host the 10 members of the Accelerator’s very first cohort at a celebration of their achievements in the program, which provides a full package of support (valued at more than $10,000) to San Diego businesses operated by people of color, women, veterans or those who identify as LGBTQ+.
Diversity, equity and inclusion are at the heart of the SDTA’s organizational mission, and it’s been wonderful to see the initial class of Accelerator members thrive and to hear them talk about how the program has elevated their business prospects.
It was also gratifying to see them all in the spotlight at the “graduation” ceremony, held at Downtown San Diego’s elegant University Club and attended by key representatives from the City of San Diego and the Accelerator’s generous sponsors.
San Diego City Councilman Stephen Whitburn was on hand to recognize the accomplishments of the cohort, the SDTA and its program partners. And participants also received certificates from San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria.
2023 Accelerator Applications Open
With a very successful first year in the books, the SDTA is now inviting all eligible San Diego tourism businesses to apply for the 2023 edition of the Tourism Accelerator. Click here for full details and an application link. Applications are due Jan. 6, 2023.
Once again, we’d like to congratulate all the small businesses in the first Accelerator cohort for their growth despite challenging circumstances. We thank them for partnering with the SDTA in this vital initiative.
