With a renewed focus on domestic tourism, the SDTA worked with Costco Travel to feature San Diego as a new destination for its Vacation Package sales starting on Jan. 6, 2021. The SDTA has been in conversation with Costco about this opportunity for a long time so this new partnership is a great win for San Diego.
The following hotels are currently included in the program, but Costco Travel is in discussions to add several more properties as it further assesses the market and additional geographic or demographic needs.
- Carte Hotel San Diego
- Estancia La Jolla
- Fairmont Grand Del Mar
- Hard Rock San Diego
- Hotel Del Coronado
- Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina
- Manchester Grand Hyatt
- San Diego Marriott Gaslamp Quarter
Currently, the launch only includes sales of hotel and car rental only, but Costco intends to add attractions/activities in the future.
Costco is the third largest global retailer, with over 106 million loyal members worldwide. It maintains a highly sought-after, loyal and affluent demographic with the discretionary income for travel purchases.
Over the past several years, Costco Travel has been one of the fastest-growing divisions within Costco, and currently offers travel services to Costco members in the United States, Canada and United Kingdom. Costco Travel has a database of over 20 million consumers who will be receiving information about travel to San Diego, and the destination will also be featured in their U.S. and Canada quarterly travel brochure that it distributes in its stores.
