Local distillery Cutwater Spirits is best-known for its award-winning lineup of ready-to-enjoy canned cocktails and premium bottled spirits that span nearly every category including rums, vodkas, gins, whiskeys, and tequilas. Like everyone, Cutwater has made many adjustments to its operations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, prioritizing the health and safety of its team and the community.
For now, the Cutwater Tasting Room & Kitchen is open for takeout and delivery only, and the team has developed innovative ways to continue to connect with the community, bringing people together through its series of engaging virtual events.
Virtual Sensory Experience | Friday, Jan. 22, 2021
Each month, Cutwater hosts a Virtual Sensory Experience modeled after the popular in-person event series. Participants can now order a sensory kit online and join in the experience by tuning into the livestream on the Tasting Room’s dedicated Instagram account @cutwatertastingroom. Each kit features a full-sized canned Cutwater cocktail and two mini-bottles of select Cutwater spirits paired with five unexpected snacks. Gwen Conley, Cutwater’s director of quality & innovation, guides guests through a virtual 45-minute tasting. The next Virtual Sensory Experience is scheduled for Jan. 22 at 6 p.m., and participants can purchase and pick up their kits at the Miramar tasting room located at 9750 Distribution Ave.
First Annual Fridge Run | Race Weekend: Jan. 23 and 24, 2021
To help support the San Diego Food Bank and have a little fun while doing it, Cutwater is hosting its first annual Fridge Run on Saturday Jan. 23 and Sunday Jan. 24. The event will take place on the Cutwater Spirits national Instagram account @cutwaterspirits—and actor Kevin McHale and comedian Sarah Collona are getting in on the fun to support the great cause.
For $25, Fridge Run participants are outfitted with a race kit that includes a limited-edition Cutwater Fridge Run-branded athletic T-shirt, sweatband, tote bag, race bib and reusable water bottle. All proceeds go directly to the San Diego Food Bank, and each kit provides 125 meals to locals in need. Kits can be purchased here and picked up in the Tasting Room.
Fridge Run participants can then enter this virtual contest by sharing photos and video footage including training, race-preparations and their “most epic” weekend strides to the fridge on Instagram for a chance to win prizes, including a fridge-full of Cutwater Spirits’ award-winning canned cocktails. Categories for the winner’s podium include Best in Show, Most Creative, Most Athletic, Best Music and/or Choreography and Best Finish Line.
Each post of race-related activity shared to Instagram tagging @CutwaterSpirits and #CutwaterFridgeRun #Contest counts as an entry to win and can be submitted until Jan. 24 at midnight. For more information and rules visit cutwaterspirits.com.
