San Diego hotels in the month of December averaged 62.7 percent occupancy, a 6.3 percent reduction compared to 2018, while the average daily rate (ADR) was $135.50, down 5.4 percent from last year. San Diego occupancy for the month ranked 10th among top 25 markets, while ADR ranked 9th.
- With the American Society for Hematology (ASH) missing from this month’s mix of conventions, major declines in occupancy and daily rates were felt throughout the county.
- Occupancy grew modestly on Tuesday and Friday nights compared to last year, up 4 percent and 1 percent respectively, though Saturday through Monday nights fell substantially, down as much as 17 percent.
- Average daily rates rose for properties located in the Pt. Loma peninsula (up 2.5 percent) as well as North Inland (up 4.2 percent). Throughout the County, ADR grew by 3 percent on Tuesday-Thursday nights and up 1 percent on Fridays, compared to last December.
