In the first full week of May, San Diego hotels saw significant contractions in occupancy rates, though average daily rates remained relatively unchanged compared to last year. Occupancy rates ranged from 61.9 percent in Escondido to 75.9 percent Downtown. All regions decreased in occupancy compared to last year; La Jolla and UTC properties reduced the least with 4 percent and 5.7 percent loss, respectively. Average daily rates ranged from $111.46 in Escondido to $244.46 in La Jolla. La Jolla saw the most growth at 11.2 percent over last year, followed by Mission Bay with 4.3 percent growth.
