San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl officials and FOX Sports announced that the 41st annual San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl will be played at SDCCU Stadium in San Diego, California on Monday, December 31st. This marks the first time the San Diego bowl game has ever been played on New Year’s Eve. Kickoff is at 4:00 p.m. PST; the pregame show begins at 3:30 p.m. PST. The game will be televised nationally on FS1.
The San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl will feature powerhouse teams from the Pac-12 Conference and the Big Ten Conference. Last year’s game featured a top 20 matchup between the Michigan State Spartans and Washington State Cougars.
“We are so excited to present the bowl game for the first time ever during one the of the coveted New Year’s time slots,” said Del Lewis, the 2018 president of the bowl game. “This is an exciting opportunity for San Diegans and visiting fans alike to close out 2018 in grand style and celebrate. San Diego will be abuzz this New Year’s Eve.”
The popular bowl game parade, the Port of San Diego Holiday Bowl Parade, will step off at 9:00 a.m. on game day morning. The one-mile long parade will march along the scenic downtown bayside streets on Harbor Drive and feature giant helium-filled character balloons, floats, marching bands, entertaining drill teams and more.
This year, SDCCU Holiday Bowl officials are also hosting the Navy – Notre Dame rivalry football game at SDCCU Stadium on Saturday, October 27th. This matchup has been played annually since 1927, making it the longest uninterrupted intersectional rivalry in college football. Annual Holiday Bowl ticket holders receive priority on the best seats.
