San Diego and Yokohama are two cities on the cutting edge of biotech and life sciences – both home to notable companies and research institutions like the Salk Institute and Yokohama City University. As part of the 60th anniversary of the sister city affiliation, the City of Yokohama, Biocom and World Trade Center San Diego are celebrating with events throughout the week, including a seminar to promote collaboration, exchange industry knowledge and strengthen the connections between two of the world’s premier bio clusters.
Events include:
- Yokohama’s new “Life Innovation Platform” initiative to promote life sciences research and business opportunities
- Plans to assist San Diego companies at BIO International and BioJapan
- Presentation by Yokohama City University on potential research and partnership opportunities with San Diego companies
The delegation from Yokohama will be experiencing some of San Diego’s iconic regions, attractions, and parks. They will also be donating cherry blossom trees to be planted in the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park.
