Balboa Theatre in downtown San Diego drew hundreds of movie-goers to the premiere of the documentary “Balboa Park: The Jewel of San Diego.” The film highlights the historical road map that built the urban park, from it’s founders, financiers, and fans, to its place in San Diego history.
San Diego City Council President Todd Gloria opened the evening with remarks from the historic stage, in front of a full house of eager viewers. The film debuted to thunderous applause as the audience was taken on a journey behind the iconic downtown urban park. The film will be distributed to third grade teachers across the county and available online for viewing as well.
SDTA President & CEO Joe Terzi thanked guests after the film and also presented the new logo for Balboa Park—a universal brand logo that will represent all institutions within the parks boundaries. The new plan is to market Balboa Park as a must-see place in San Diego. Guests then gathered at the historic US Grant Hotel nearby for food, conversation, and good times.
