On Monday, Feb. 25, a public hearing was held by the San Diego City Council regarding the delayed signing of the Tourism Marketing District (TMD) operating agreement and its impact on the City’s economy. More than 300 industry supporters packed City Hall and presented a compelling case in favor of the TMD and the San Diego Tourism Authority’s (SDTA) sales and marketing mission. Six of the seven City Council Members present expressed strong support of the industry and for Mayor Filner to release the TMD funds immediately. The SDTA is working with our industry partners and the City Council to resolve the situation. In the interim, please contact your local City Council representative to express your support for the TMD; and e-mail Mayor Filner asking him to honor and sign the operating agreement already approved by the City Council.
