The 2010 numbers have been released. San Diego County ranked fourth in 2010 among counties in the U.S. for domestic leisure and business travel as measured in “person-days” (number of visitors multiplied by the number of days spent in the county) by D.K. Shifflet & Associates. San Diego’s share of business travel was 2.14% of all person-days, following only Los Angeles, Chicago, and Las Vegas markets when it comes to domestic business travel. As for leisure travel, San Diego’s share was 1.35% of all person-days, following Orlando, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles–a reminder of San Diego’s strengths as a leisure and business travel market in the U.S. Annually, visitors spend around $7 billion in San Diego, which provides jobs and taxes to benefit the San Diego region.
