Public Relations is extremely busy with media outreach to key domestic and international markets along with many media tours and individual media visits to the region:
- Media calls were made in Phoenix, San Francisco, New York City, Washington DC and Philadelphia
- Media events took place in New York City and San Francisco, sponsored by CTTC promoting the region
- Key media outlets in London were introduced to the new British Airways non-stop flight, Heathrow-San Diego, beginning June 2001; numerous individual and groups media visits to the region were hosted
- PR hosted the Board of Directors of the Society of American Travel Writers and a group of eight top-tier German media outlets
- A “San Diego Backcountry Media Tour” highlighted the Anza-Borrego Desert and surrounding East County region, as well as numerous individual media visits for The New York Post, Westways Magazine, Evening magazine (a one-hour NBC affiliate evening TV show in Seattle), The Oregonian and much more
- Upcoming media tours include Family Fun in Coronado, “Coastal Jewels of San Diego” highlighting La Jolla and the North County beach communities along Highway 101 and a British Airways inaugural flight with approximately 20 UK and international travel media on board
